Staying comfortable on the land, without losing connection to it
Every spring, there is a shift that happens quietly.
The light changes. The land begins to wake up. The hills start to offer their first signs of life. And people begin moving outside again — into gardens, along shorelines, onto trails, and back to the places that restore them.
And with that return to the outdoors comes another familiar presence too.
Mosquitoes.
For many people, mosquito protection is treated like a simple convenience. Something you grab last minute on your way out the door. But for those of us who spend real time outside — working, harvesting, walking, fishing, camping, or simply being close to nature — it becomes something else.
It becomes part of how we stay well enough to remain present.
Because when the bites start, it is easy to lose your patience. Easy to rush the moment. Easy to feel like you need to escape the very place you came to be in. And that is not a small thing. Being outdoors is not only recreation — it is regulation. It is grounding. It is how many of us reset our nervous systems and return to ourselves.
So outdoor protection, to me, is about more than keeping bugs away.
It is about protecting your ability to stay connected.
That is why I created the Natural Outdoor Protection Mist.
Not as a “nice-smelling spray,” and not as a trendy product, but as a practical tool for outdoor living — built from plant knowledge and shaped with the same care I put into everything I make.
This kind of work has always been rooted in relationship.
In Indigenous healing traditions, plants are not just ingredients. They are relatives. They are teachers. They are part of a living ecosystem that we engage with respectfully — with timing, gratitude, and responsibility. The medicines I work with come from a way of life where wellness is not separate from land, and where protection is often supported by what the earth already provides.
Over time, I have also learned how important it is to bridge that knowledge with consistency.
People need to trust what they are putting on their bodies. They need to know that a product is thoughtfully made, carefully formulated, and reliable — especially when it becomes part of their daily routine through the warm months.
That is what led me to reformulate this mist.
The intention stayed the same, but the formula has been refined so it lasts longer and performs more consistently through real outdoor use — long days in the yard, evenings at the lake, time near bush and brush, and the kind of heat where your skin needs to breathe.
I wanted something that felt clean and light, not heavy or greasy. Something you could mist onto skin and clothing without feeling coated. Something that supported outdoor comfort without relying on harsh synthetics.
Many conventional repellents do their job, but they can come with a cost — strong chemical smells, irritation for sensitive skin, or ingredients people simply do not want to use often or around children.
This mist is an alternative for people who want a different relationship with protection.
One that feels more natural. More aligned. More respectful.
It is made with a blend of botanical extracts that have long histories of being used in traditional ways — not only to repel, but also to support the body’s sense of ease while being outdoors. There is something powerful about using plants as allies, not only as barriers.
And there is also something grounding about remembering that protection does not have to disconnect us from nature.
It can be part of how we move through it with more comfort and more presence.
Using it is simple.
I recommend shaking the bottle before use, then applying a light mist to exposed skin or clothing before you head outside. If you are spending extended time outdoors, especially near water or in heavy mosquito conditions, reapplying every few hours helps maintain that consistent layer of support.
This is not about perfection.
It is about practicality.
It is about giving yourself a better chance to stay outside longer — to finish what you started, to enjoy the quiet longer, to remain in the moment rather than reacting to discomfort.
And in the end, that is what I want my products to do.
Not just solve a small problem.
But support a better experience.
A more connected experience.
A season where you are outside more, not less.
A season where comfort helps you stay in relationship with the land — instead of feeling pushed away from it.
